hat were once lifestyle fads have evolved into some of the world's fastest-growing sports and are now set to debut on the world’s biggest stage – the Olympic Games. Step inside the journey of three new sports born on the fringes of society – skateboarding, surfing, and sport climbing – alongside names like Tony Hawk, Emily Harrington, and Sofia Mulanovich.
Filmmaker Cole Sax has a unique perspective on the upcoming Summer Olympic Games. The 2011 Park City High School graduate has co-directed, co-produced and released “World Debut: From Outsiders to the Olympics,” a documentary feature that can be watched on YouTube and the Olympic Channel. The film follows the decades-long and winding road it took for sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing to get into the Olympics, let alone recognized by the public as bonafide and productive sports, according to Sax.
Peruvian surfing champion Sofia Mulanovich discusses her disappointment of having to postpone her 2020 Summer Olympic debut due to the coronavirus pandemic in the documentary “World Debut: From Outsiders to the Olympics.” Mulanovich will be one of the first surfers who will participate in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
Shot in the Beaches of Señoritas and Punta Hermosa in Lima, World debut tells the story on how there sports had to struggle to become Olympic Sports. Shot with RED Cameras, director local director Jorge Carmona captured the essence of this legend of Peruvian surd, Sofia Mulanovich.
